Family Legacy: Camp Life
During the summer of 2016, I traveled to Zambia and was given the opportunity to work with a group of girls that forever changed my life. Each one of the girls in my group was bursting at the seams with joy and kindness, regardless of the tragedy that was a part of their every day lives. Family Legacy is a wonderful organization that helps provide these Zambian orphans with the opportunity to earn an education in hopes of creating a successful society in the poverty-stricken world that they live in.
I was fortunate enough to go back to Zambia the following summer in 2017. I was reunited with my sweet girls, and I was AMAZED by how much they had grown and learned in just one year! Many of them were conversational in English, which was incredible. Carson, my fiance at the time, traveled with me and met ten precious boys that quickly stole both of our hearts. When we said our goodbyes that summer, we knew we had to find a way to incorporate the amazing trip into our honeymoon the following summer, and we did!
Our trip to Zambia this summer, as part two of our honeymoon, was the most memorable one yet. The little girls that I met in 2016 are becoming beautiful, intelligent young women who have a strong desire to make a difference in their communities.
If you have any questions about this wonderful organization or experience, please feel free to ask!!
